Arguably one of the hottest doyennes of dance, Magit Cacoon now adds Renaissance to an enviable discography with her latest release, ’Send Return’, which arrives in a blaze of major heat. Already the stuff of social legend, where it’s been jumped on by many an IG tastemaker site, the two-track EP perfectly demonstrates a melodic prowess with pinpoint production and her distinct, trademark edge.

Comprised of the originals, ’Send Return’ (obvs!) and ‘Transience’, alongside a further brace of remixes (more on those later), the EP is a bumper affair. Its path to Renaissance is a fond, familiar tale, which Magit happily explains, “I kick-started my relationship with Renaissance at their Zamna Festival date last year (’22) and since then we stayed in-touch. When the tracks were ready they presented the perfect opportunity to continue taking things forward together.”

To bring wider scope to the project, Magit and Renaissance set about inviting two of her favourite producers to remix the title track - Ivory and Angelov.

Ivory’s mix probably needs little introduction as it’s been hammered by the great and the good since the new year; everyone from Dixon, Âme, Trikk and Magit’s local brothers, Chaim and Jenia Tarsol, have supported the easily identifiable mix, with its clever addition of ringing phones. “The idea for the mix came from everyone shooting Instagram videos on their mobiles instead of enjoying the moment,” explains Ivory, “I thought, ‘what would happen if every phone rang at the same time?’ The noise would drown out the music!

I guess you could call it a bit of a clap back at modern day clubbing and a musical query as to whether social media is invading our lives too much?”

With the melodic techno box firmly ticked, Ukraine’s highly-respected Angelov was briefed to provide a more indie take on ‘Send Return’, which he duly obliged with a brilliant, slap-bass, twisted journey. “My style naturally walks the line between melodic techno and indie, so it’s a REALLY tough choice as to which remix to play out,” questions Cacoon, “I’m just delighted to have been able to invite two such amazing producers to the EP. It really is an honour.”
